The NCAA Quickly Revises the Agent Certification Requirements
Approximately one week after disseminating its new agent certification process, the NCAA revised the certification requirements in response to substantial backlash relating to what was dubbed the #RichPaulRule. Citing the NBPA’s history of granting waivers to its requirement of a bachelor’s degree, the NCAA modified the qualifications for being certified agent to the following:
A Bachelor’s degree and/or are currently certified and in good standing with the NBPA.
NBPA certification for a minimum of three consecutive years.
Maintain professional liability insurance.
Complete the NCAA qualification exam.
Pay the required fees.
